Lots of things happening in June. See Dates for your Diary.
The wonderfully extensive and eclectic Open Studios North Fife is back once again during the first weekend in May – Saturday 4th to Monday 6th. I’ll be at a different location this year at craftsman Leo Norris’ venue 67, where I’ll be exhibiting alongside Leo and artist blacksmith, Jim Shears. You’ll be able to see my new range of paintings in a wide variety of mediums, charcoal sketches and prints along with my decorative and functional hand carved greenwood spoons and other items for sale. I’ll also be giving some short demonstrations when time permits. You might also win one of my creations in the raffle! More updates as we get nearer the time. Open Studios North Fife
Join me at the Centre for Stewardship, Falkland, Fife for another in the series of Creative Natures workshops. Using charcoal made from wood gathered locally on the estate, we will spend the morning sketching the trees and water features of this beautiful living landscape in a lively, expressive style. Through a mixture of demos and instruction, you will be guided through a supportive and fun experience covering aspects of tonal range, composition and perspective. Suitable for any level of experience from those just discovering their creativity, through to others looking for more artistic challenge. We will be out walking the trails so please dress appropriately. In the unlikely event the weather conditions are too challenging, we will base ourselves in the Hub working from gathered local found objects and references. Cost £25 – all materials supplied. Meet in the Craft Hub, Falkland Stables to be ready for going out at 10am.
To book just email: email@example.com or call 07796 895045
Thanks to everyone for visiting the gallery of work by all of us artists who tutor at Forgan Arts Centre (and for buying!). A big shout out to all centre staff and volunteers – especially Alana for organising and making it happen! It all looked fab!
I’ll be at at the Craft Hub, Falkland Centre for Stewardship from 11am, alongside the Craft Fayre with a display and demonstration of animal portraiture. Come along and see how it’s done – you may even like to commission a portrait of your pooch, pussycat or pony! See my specialist site Animal Visual for examples of my previous work.
Due to the Wednesday class being full, we’re now putting on an additional class for beginners and those with some experience on Thursday evenings between August 23rd and September 27th. Contact Alana at Forgan to book.

Looking forward to seeing those of you signed up for block 5 of the Art for Beginners classes at Forgan Art Centre starting Wednesday 15th August. These classes are now fully booked, but don’t worry if you’ve missed out – with enough interest, we should be able to run an additional block. Just get in touch with Alana at the Centre , and we’ll see what we can do.
I’ll be running another block of ‘Art for Beginners’ classes at Forgan Arts Centre at Newport on Tay, Fife DD6 8RA on Wednesday evenings. These classes are proving popular, with this being block 5. Participants often have a broad range of experience – some have never done any art before, while others return from previous blocks. Through a mix of demonstrations and with guidance, everyone is encouraged to progress and develop their own style of work in a fun and supportive atmosphere, with activities that are accessible for everyone. Basic principles such as choice and use of materials, drawing skills, composition, perspective and use of colour are covered, and classes have an underlying theme, often suggested by those taking part. Here’s the dates: August 15th, 22nd, 29th, September 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th (7-9pm). Contact the arts centre to book.
There are now three dates where you can immerse yourself in creativity within the stunning natural surroundings of Falkland Estate, at the Centre for Stewardship in Fife.
